The Industrial Research Chairs in Instrumentation & Control were established at the University of New Brunswick in 1994, with monetary and equipment support from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Monenco AGRA Inc., and the Elsag Bailey Group, to achieve several goals:

There are two Chairs in I & C. The Senior Chair is held by Dr. James H. Taylor (Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering), and the Associate Chair was quite recently filled, by Dr. Rickey Dubay (Department of Mechanical Engineering). Taylor is primarily working in the area of Intelligent Systems & Control, while Dubay is focussing primarily on Intelligent Control, Sensing & Instrumentation Systems. Together, they will collaborate to advance the capability and effectiveness of I & C systems for Canadian industry.
