WHAT IS ABUSE?

• a pattern of physical assault, threats or restraints such as beating, hitting kicking, punching, shoving, choking or burning
• the use of violence to control another person

• mistreating a partner by constantly hurting her feelings

• mistreatment by sexual acts, demands or insults

WHO GETS ABUSED?

• usually women and children
• the abused women could be anybody - sister, mother, neighbor, co-worker
• she may be any age, race or economic status
